Chaozhou is located in the easternmost part of Guangdong Province. It is located in the north of the delta of the Han River, which flows through the city. It borders Shantou to the south, Jieyang to the southwest, Meizhou to the northwest, the province of Fujian to the east, and the South China Sea to the southeast.
It covers an area of 3613.9 square kilometers.

History of Chaozhou
Chaozhou is a national historic cultural city founded in the East Jin Dynasty(AD 331). It has a history of more than l670 years. It was the Political, economical and cultural center of East Guangdong, esteemed as "the First Prefecture of Eastern Guangdong" and "a Civilized City of South China Beach". Chaozhou has along history in culture with various scenic spots. Chaozhou Opera, Chaozhou Music, Chaozhou Tea, Chaozhou Food,Chaozhou Porcelain, Chaozhou Embroidery Chaozhou Drawn Work,woodcarving, and Jade Carving are the main industries. Chaozhou has been ranked as a national historical and cultural city by the State Council.
What to see
Chaozhou is a tourist city open to the outside world. It's rich in tourist resources. It has as many as over 700 historical sites and scenic spots such as ancient bridges, towers, temples, ancient residences, ancient ceramic kilns. Of which two are listed as sites for protection at state level, eleven at provincial level. There are rivers, sea, lakes and hills within the area. The most attractive scenes are Tianchi in the Fenghuang mountain, Hot Spring in Dongshan Lake, Meilin Lake and Haishan island.
