Qinhuangdao is a city in the Hebei province in China. It is located at 39.56 degrees north latitude and 119.36 degrees east of Greenwich, approximately 300 km east of Beijing, on the Bo Hai Sea, the innermost gulf of the Yellow Sea. Since the elevation of Tianjin to a provincial-level municipality, Qinhuangdao is the chief port of Hebei province.

Qinhuangdao lies between mountains and the sea, and enjoys a pleasant climate without cold winters or hot summers. The yearly temperatures average at 10.5 degrees Celsius.

Qinhuangdao is an ice-free port that exports large quantities of coal, peanuts, and soybeans. A special economic development city, Qinhuangdao has a large glass industry, a growing fishing industry, and is a popular resort town.

The Qinhuangdao Olympic Sports Center Stadium will serve as one of the Football venues during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The stadium lies inside the Qinhuangdao Olympic Sports Center on the Hebei Avenue.
The construction was started in May 2002 and completed on July 30, 2004. Covering 168,000 square meters, the Olympic-standard stadium has a seating capacity of 33,572, 0.2% of which are reserved for the disabled persons.

Beidaihe: a seaside resort. Many political decisions affecting China are made here, making it the equivalent to resorts in Maine or Camp David in Maryland in the United States.
Shanhaiguan: a popular tourist destination, featuring the eastern end of the Great Wall.
Qinhuangdao's Olympic Sports Centre Stadium will be used as an Olympic Competition Venue (Football Preliminary) during the 2008 Summer Olympics.
