Leshan Giant BuddhaSitting on the east bank of the Minjiang River and at the confluence of the Minjiang River, Qingyi River and Dadu River, east of Leshan City, the Giant Buddha was carved on the precipice of Xiluan Peak of Mt.Lingyun. The stone sculpture faces Mount Emei, with the rivers flowing below his feet. It is the tallest stone Buddha statue in the world, and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996.
